The one thing you can’t fault Crytek on is Robinson’s visuals, which are staggeringly good. Literally so, as you stare up at a passing brachiosaur or marvel at a pack of velociraptors. The backdrops are stunning too, from thick fronds of jungle vegetation to bubbling tar pits, and wide opened plains dotted with the remains of your giant spaceship. In terms of showing off VR it’s the perfect showcase, assuming you don’t get nauseous when you start moving around.
Although you can use normal first person controls if you want we don’t advise it unless you have a total immunity to VR nausea. The default controls work like Here They Lie, by allowing you to move back and forth as normal using the left analogue stick but only turning around in discreet steps, which flick around like a photo slide. Even then we still fell a significant jolt when suddenly moving forward or backwards, so more delicate players should try before they buy.
